5- Hymns- Blessed Assurance
It is astonishing to me how God can use brokeness and devistation to still write gracefilled stories of beauty. Todays hymn is a good depiction of that.
When I hear the joyful chorus:
'This is my story, this is my song! Praising my Savior, all the day long.'
Its hard to believe they came out of a the mouth of a women whose life was filled with hardship. Fanny Crosby was rendered blind as a baby due to a medical mistake- yet she didn't let that be the end of her story.
She lost of her father in her first year of life and yet she didn't let that be the end of her story.
She started writing hymns at six years old and wrote many in her lifetime.
She lost an infant child as a young mom, and yet she didn't let thet be the end of her story. God continued to be with her and faithful to her in the darkest places. At the age of 54, her friend Phoebe Knapp wrote a musical piece and asked Fanny to write the words.
Her most famous hymn came out as a result of the collaboration.
'The blessed Assurance' of Jesus being with her is what carried her through all her days. And what can carry us, even through the heaviest days.
