1- Hymns- Doxology

Praise. That is the first word of this short but power-packed hymn, and also could be a summary of it.

This hymn is an anthem of the church.

Dox, coming from the greek word for glory, this hymn offers snapshot after snapshot of God's glory: the spring source of all blessings that flow- the Creator of all of us creatures- that He is above all angels and angel armies alike - the beautiful community of the Trinity. Each of those reasons are facets of beauty, like in a diamond that illuminate who God is- Full of Glory.

I remember being in handful of crowds as a college student, Friday weekly worship gatherings at a college or Sunday morning services at a local church, when after a song, a chorus breaks out " Praise God from who all blessings flow...." countless others ring out in response.

I didn't grow up with hymns and was exposed to their goodness and richness in my early 20's. But seeing a whole room of people erupt in un rehearsed unison, its a beautiful thing-   instead of a sports stadium full "WE WILL, WE WILL - ROCK YOU!!" Its the church's glorious chorus- pointing to who a glorious God is, responding in what is only natural, praise. It's a little glimpse into heaven.
